Just had to give you a heads up on a great book for summer reading at the beach or where ever you plan to spend the next month or so... It's called Return to Summerhouse by Jude Deveraux and it is even better than the first... The Summerhouse (I think that was the name). I picked it up on a whim and I couldn't put it down. Pick it up or see if your library has a copy. Just don't plan on getting very much work done. You've been warned. ;)

Feeling Horrid

Aren't you supposed to feel amazing once the warm weather sets in?? Me, I get hit with horrid allergies and this is the first year that I can remember suffering like this. I'm gargling with salt water just about every hour and it seems to be helping, but I have no time for this!! Might be the doctor next week. :(

We have been experiencing weather that is big time scary to say the least. We had tornado warnings a few days ago but no tornado thank goodness, but winds strong enough to wipe out our garden umbrella which was attached to base that I couldn't even lift. And then it hit again last night about 1 a.m... so obviously I didn't get a lot of sleep. I'm just hoping that THAT'S the end of it.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the backyard now. Will wait until everything settles down a bit I guess. :) Be back with more updates soon. I'm so far behind!!

I just might get out the umbrella and take a walk. It's not one of those nasty cold days, so I just might go exploring for a couple of hours. The park isn't that far away... just might take my camera with me. :)

I think that today is going to be my lazy day . I had a ton of energy yesterday and got just about everything on my list taken care of. And seeing that it's raining today, I don't have to do any watering... oh wait I just remember that I have a load of towels that needs washing. But after that is done, I think I will curl up with a book and just drift away for the afternoon.

More Flowers

It was miserably cold today so I didn't get to sit in the backyard, but tomorrow, I have plans. I also bought a flat of snap dragons for two window boxes, possibly three and this trailing white flower to add to each. They will be planted as of tomorrow. Here's hoping that this summer is going to as hot as they are predicting.

Going to see if there is anything worth watching tonight on TV and then probably have an early night. Now if I can sleep like I used to in university, I will be very happy. Just can't seem to get the hang of it any more. The least little thing wakes me up.

Just finished my post over at Shopaholics Daily and found the most gorgeous summer dress. It's probably not the sort of thing that I would have picked 15 years ago, but today, I'm loving it. I love fashion as much as ever but lately Badgley Mischka is creating stuff that really appeals to me. Fifteen years ago I would have picked something by Betsey Johnson, but lately I'm going more for the classic lines.

As you probably know thanks to all the complaining that I've been doing lately, we have yet to experience ANY nice weather, but I finally found a perk!! Summer Fashion is already being marked down big time at this particular store and I'm loving all the sun dresses that are being slashed. Now if we can just sell this house so I can move closer to this store. But there's always online. They just keep making it easier and easier for us!

What Color Are You Wearing?

A few weeks ago we found ourselves with gorgeous temperatures and the first thing I did was paint my toe nails and pull out a pair of flip flops. Well, that lasted a long time. I'm back in socks, cargo pants, a sweatshirt and definitely no flip flops. But my toes still look pretty (if anyone could see them) in a fuscia colored polish. Works with my skin tones at the moment... so what color are you presently wearing? Or is it too cold where you are too??

There are two reasons why I'm picking on these shoes, but hey, maybe I completely missed the boat on this shoes. Allergies Big Time

Apparently the pollen count for Birch trees where I live is really high and I'm feeling pretty lousy. It's either allergies or I picked up a cold somewhere. Give me a few days and I will find you some eye candy. Right now all I want to do is go to bed. I have to kick this quick. I have my mother coming to visit for a week and I know that she's my Mom, but her days of taking care of me are supposed to be over. ;)

Spent the day with my daughter looking for backyard furniture. We now have a new table, four chairs, an umbrella that tilts, two wrought iron planters and some lanterns. I should have a birthday more often. My son asked me what I wanted and I said planters. He heard plant and now I have this massive orchid plant and not a clue what to do with it. Must read up lol...

Off to bed now because I'm exhausted.

I'm over whatever caused me to feel so horrid last night and I'm ready to hit the mall today. The weather seems to be improving and I'm just itching to go looking at backyard furniture. I went for a walk in the field yesterday (behind all of our neighbor's houses) and we really need to get a move on. There's some major work being done and ours looks pretty bare.

Spent the day baking muffins and baking soda biscuits. It was just one of those days when you want to do something different and baking it was going to be. I made Raspberry White Chocolate Muffins and I got a thumbs up from my daughter, but next time make the chunks of white chocolate bigger. I used a block of white chocolate, broke it up, and then chopped them up too small. Next time I will double the size. What would I do without the bulk food store?? So much cheaper than the supermarket. And just in case you were wondering.. it's a super easy recipe. The raspberries came frozen in a tub and I simply scooped out what I needed and put it back into the freezer for next time. Pretty decadent for a whole lot less than you would pay in a store.

Breakfast is looking rather promising ;)

Just thought that I would get you ladies thinking about Mother's Day. Have you decided what you want if you are a Mom or what you are going to get your Mom this year?? I thought about asking for a magazine subscription, but I don't know if we will be here for entire year, so I'm going to look for something else... the magazine rack would look nice in my office, the bubble bath stuff I can always use more of... the foot spa I got for Christmas a couple of years ago. My own Mom... now that's going to be tough. She is in a tiny little apartment now so I'm going to have to go with something that won't take up any space. What do you get a woman who has everything and no space for something new?? I still have a couple of weeks right??

I think that I have either found my Mother's Day Present or my birthday present. I picked out two really gorgeous planters last Friday while shopping with my daughter and guess what I just happened to see in the garage. They were tucked into a corner which I really shouldn't have seen, but trust me... I was instantly drawn to them. They are sort of wrought iron stands with those moss baskets ready to fill with soil and flowers. My daughter pointed them out to me because they won't kill the grass. The only thing that will touch the grass is one ring. I think she was waiting to see what I would say... and I loved them. Didn't buy them on the spot because the line-ups were horrendous. So, something to start decorating the back yard. I guess a little at a time.

Okay, time to get back to work. I haven't found anything to feature today at Shopaholics Daily. I've spent the whole morning tidying up the kitchen and making the house look as if no one lives here. And thanks to all of you who sent good vibes. I sure hope they help this afternoon and someone falls in love with our house.

We have another house showing tomorrow and I would so like to get this over with. If enough of you send positive thoughts, just maybe we can sell this house. Okay, so I can hope. The housing market has ground to a halt up here. Just have to make sure that the house doesn't still smell like salmon. That's what we had for dinner (I hated it) but both dh and dd love the stuff. Can't figure out what they see in it... just smelled up the house. If it wasn't for all of those omega fatty acids... or whatever it is that is so good for you I would eat something else. Tomorrow night... it's pizza. Not as healthy I know, but it sure tastes good.

Signing off for the night. I'm dead beat. Hoping to sleep like a log tonight.
